Super Mini PC Barbone. RAM und SSD rein und ab geht die Post !
Shipping was surprisingly fast: it was dispatched from an EU warehouse and arrived within the EU in just 4–5 days. The package was well protected, and everything looked brand new and unused.
I bought the barebone version and installed my own RAM and SSD. I’ve been using it with Debian Linux ever since, and so far it has been running very well. The 54W BIOS setting gives the Ryzen 7 255 plenty of performance while keeping the system compact.
One thing I particularly like is how quiet the W1 is. Most of the time, the fan is completely silent or practically inaudible, and sometimes it doesn’t seem to run at all. It only spins up under heavier workloads, and even then the noise is not bothersome. The fan has a relatively high-pitched sound, which I find quite unobtrusive.
My benchmark results:
Geekbench 6: 2584 single-core / 11749 multi-core
https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/19313002
Geekbench 7: 2326 single-core / 13331 multi-core
https://browser.geekbench.com/v7/cpu/575155
These are very good results for such a small 54W mini PC. The Ryzen 7 255 delivers strong single-core performance and surprisingly good multi-core performance for its size and power consumption.
Overall, I’m very satisfied with the W1. It’s a fast, compact and well-built mini PC, and the barebone configuration was exactly what I was looking for. I’m especially happy that it works perfectly with my Linux setup and that it stays so quiet during normal use.
So far I'm pleased as it stays completely quiet most of the time. The fan revs up occasionally, but even then the noise stays at an acceptable level. Note: I don't use it for heavy tasks; it's mostly for browsing. It starts up very quickly.
I bought the 0+0 version because I wanted to build it around the parts I already had. The compact size makes it perfect for my desk.
I installed my own memory and SSD and had the system running much faster than expected. It is a great little machine for anyone who prefers choosing their own components.
